Hi, I am Amanda, the owner of Long Island Voice Lessons.  I grew up in Lindenhurst, NY on Long Island.  I studied Musical Theatre at SUNY Fredonia for my Bachelors in Fine Arts and then went on to study Opera Performance at Binghamton University for my Masters in Music.  As part of my responsibility to you as your teacher, I attend voice conferences, training programs and classes each year to stay current on the latest research within the voice and performing community.  I am deeply fascinated with the interaction between the voice and the rest of the body.  In addition to my traditional acting training, I have taken classes in Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, and am am active Yoga practitioner.

I am a member of NATS, NYSTA, NAfME, The Voice Foundation, and am Certified in Somatic Voicework™, The LoVetri Method.   In addition to my private studio, I am on the voice faculty at LIU C.W. Post within their Fine and Performing Arts Department and am on faculty at the LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™, held at Baldwin Wallace University each July.

I am an active performer.  I am the female vocalist for Rock Island Sound, sing with an 18 piece big band, various concerts/cabarets, and audition for shows at local theatres (sometimes on LI and other times in Manhattan).   Some of my favorite roles include Lucille (Parade), Despina (Cosi fan tutti), Nancy (Oliver!), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Josephine (H.M.S. Pinafore), Anne (A Little Night Music), Beth (Little Women), Alice (Addam’s Family), Latitia  (The Old Maid and the Thief), Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea), and Fire Cover (L’enfant et les sortilege).

Other Fun Facts.  I am always reading at least three books - a story, a self help/spiritual book and one on vocal anatomy.  I love animals; I have a loving, energetic Portuguese Water dog named Charlie Waffles.  I am a beach bum and also enjoy hiking and biking.  I spend a lot of time in my vegetable garden over the summer.  I can also be found at the gym at least five days a week in addition to yoga (both traditional and aerial).
